Commander Tournaments Structure & Point System
To be clear on how our custom point system works for Magic The gathering Commander Tournaments, here is how we run them. Please note this is only applied to Commander tournaments that are played in pods of 3-4 and not 2 Headed Giant or Teams.
1. Round Duration
Each round will be 75 minutes. In the case of the game going into turns, each player will get 1 more turn.
2. Points Calculation
When playing in a pod, players are awarded points based on the following:
- First to be knocked out gets 0pts
- Second to be knocked out gets 1pts
- Last to be knocked out gets 2pts
- Winner gets 3pts
3. Points Calculation For Multiple Player Knockout
- If 3 players get knocked out, the remaining points will be divided amongst the defeated. 0+1+2=3 divided by 3 people. Each one gets 1pt.
- If 1 got knocked out before the remaining 2 got removed then 1+2=3 divided by 2 rounded up. They get 2pt each.
4. Points Calculation For A Draw
- Each Player will get 1pts with a warning to the player if intentionally prolonging the game. (Taking too long on turns, playing spite, intentional stalling etc...)
5. Points Calculation For Pods of 3
When playing in a pod of 3, players are awarded points based on the following:
- First to be knocked out gets 1pts
- Last to be knocked out gets 2pts
- Winner gets 3pts
6. Number of Rounds
Number of rounds are based on the number of players attending the event and are applied as follows:
- 8 to 11 Players: 3 Rounds
- 12 to 15 Players: 3 Rounds
- 16+ Players: 4 Rounds.
7. Player Pairings
Players in the first round will be paired randomly. After the first round is done, players will be paired with opponents equal to their current points.
